Association for consumers' protection – APC
APC Romania is a non-governmental and not for profit organisation which was founded in 1990. Its main objectives are to defend, promote and represent the interests of consumers among businesses and institutions. In recent years the association has relied on comparative tests on products and services to inform, educate and improve consumers’ economic and social situation.
In 2010, the EU Directive on consumer credit was transposed in Romania after years of debates. In our lobbying collaboration with the National Authority for Consumer Protection, the Romanian Parliament adopted the law with a higher level of protection than in the Directive, including stronger information obligations, a prohibition post-contractual changes and application to a wider array of contracts - including mortgage credit.
