About
FRC logo

The largest consumer protection association in Switzerland is a non-for profit and independent organisation. FRC’s priority points are to inform widely through tests and surveys, to defend the population, to move the lines at political and economic levels, to support communities who implement concrete solutions for sustainability and future generations. FRC has fought since 1959 to have consumers’ rights respected and raise their awareness as purchasers. As editor, FRC has always been advertising-free. Members and donors finance its actions and support independent information, which is essential for making informed and sustainable consumption choices.

Success Stories
  • FRC gathered a petition – obtaining more than 100,000 signatures – which led to the creation of a system of price control (1978). Further to that, the Law for Information to Consumers was established (1986) and the Office of the Pricing Supervisor was created (1991).

  • FRC and its German-speaking and Ticino allies forced operators to bend, negotiating more favorable conditions for consumers (2014).

  • FRC has initiated and developed the network of Repair Cafes (2013). Ten years later, FRC published an “event kit” and more than a hundred of Repair Cafes have taken place in the French part of Switzerland. The right to repairability, a key political fight for many years, is about to succeed.
