Competition

About

Effective competition makes sure that companies have an incentive to invest, innovate, keep up with their rivals and come up with new and better products for consumers. By giving companies a fair chance to compete on their merits, without being artificially limited or pushed out of markets by unfair practices or by subsidised rivals, companies contribute to job creation and economic growth while allowing consumers to enjoy the benefits of the Single Market.

While competition policy is traditionally a very technical field, reserved for competition law experts, consumer organisations have an important role to play given their regular contact with consumers and their insight into consumers’ needs and expectations and the functioning of markets.
