New video: What If Your Shop Assistant Was an App

We hear a lot these days about 'big data'. Well personal data – how it is legally defined, collected by businesses, processed, retained, sold, collated with other services, breached – is hugely important too.

Europe is entering the final lap of negotiations on the General Personal Data Protection Regulation.

Awareness, and as a result concern, is growing among consumers about personal data.

  • 70% are concerned their personal data held by companies may be used for a purpose other than that for which it was collected;
  • 43% of internet users say they have been asked for more personal information than necessary when they wanted to access or use an online service;
  • 67% believe that there is no alternative to disclosing personal information if they want to obtain products or services.

Our Danish member Forbrugerrådet Taenk has just produced an excellent video named 'What If Your Shop Assistant Was an App.'

It shows how uncomfortable we would be if the amount of personal data collected on us online happened in everyday life.

Please enjoy and share online via Twitter and Facebook.
