Citizens’ Energy Forum concludes

Cost, consumer empowerment and completing the internal energy market stood at the forefront of this year’s Citizens’ Energy Forum.

The Citizens’ Energy Forum, now in its 6th year, provides a central platform for the European energy sector, consumers and policy makers to evaluate current work and to identify and prioritise future plans.

In light of millions of EU consumers suffering from high energy costs, BEUC welcomes the Forum’s conclusion that the EC should analyse the drivers of energy prices and costs and propose policy initiatives for the retail sector in 2014.

Following many successful collective switch campaigns run by BEUC members in the past few years, it was a particular achievement that the Forum encouraged such kinds of initiatives to shake-up the retail energy markets
