Yesterday, a San Francisco District Judge announced that Volkswagen is on track to reach a deal with car owners – a deal which would include cash compensation and buybacks.

Monique Goyens, Director General of The European Consumer Organisation (BEUC), commented:

“It is shocking to see how much effort Volkswagen is putting in to please US courts while it turns its back on EU consumers. Sadly, the lenient attitude of authorities in EU member states is leading Volkswagen to think that it can get away with this disregard of consumer frustration.”
