Food policy Trainee (6 months traineeship)

BEUC – The European Consumer Organisation is looking for a Food policy trainee to support the implementation of BEUC’s strategy on food under the supervision of the team One health – dealing with food, health, and chemicals safety.

Your role:

• Supporting the development of a toolkit for consumer organisations with advocacy materials to advance policy action at national level on plant-based foods.
• Monitoring and analysing EU developments related to food policy. 
• Mapping relevant stakeholders and supporting engagement with EU institutions and civil society.
• Gathering and analysing evidence from BEUC members, academic sources, and other relevant materials.
• Supporting the preparation of meetings and events, including drafting agendas, background notes, and follow-up actions.
• Taking minutes of internal and external meetings.

Your profile:

• University degree in public health, law, political science or a related field.
• A strong interest in EU food policy and on initiatives that can help promote plant-based foods and diets.
• Good understanding of EU institutions and decision-making processes.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to synthesise complex information.
• Very good drafting skills in English.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
• Previous experience or academic work related to food policy or consumer protection is an asset.

Location:  As our contracts are subject to Belgian law, candidates must be committed to official registration in Belgium and working from our Brussels office. We offer teleworking possibilities from home or abroad, subject to our remote working policy and organisational needs.
