Consumer authorities and consumer organisations have agreed on several practical steps to work more closely together in the enforcement of consumer law. This was the conclusion of a joint workshop held in October 2022 between consumer authorities, BEUC and its members, and the European Commission.

The agreement will see consumer groups and authorities strive for optimal cooperation, with the aim being improving compliance with consumer law and detecting harmful market practices affecting consumers. The move will also help authorities in their work, as they will be able to benefit from consumer groups’ daily contact with consumers.

BEUC very much welcomes this agreement, which consumer organisations have long since called for.
