The financial crisis 10 years later: lessons (un)learned - 20 June

BEUC NEWS - 16.05.2018

It’s ten years since the beginning of the financial crisis. The meltdown had a severe impact on the stability of the financial system, the real economy, consumer protection and confidence on both sides of the Atlantic. That led to a number of regulatory and supervisory reforms being implemented in the EU and the U.S. But did these benefit the consumer? Has anything changed for the end-user?

The conference will address these questions, the effectiveness of the financial reforms and what still needs to be done in this respect.

The panel discussions will bring together prominent policy-makers, regulators, financial industry representatives, and consumer advocates from both Europe and the US. This conference is being organised by BEUC and US consumer organisations in the context of the Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue (www.tacd.org).
