The Consumers’ Organisation of North Macedonia is an umbrella organisation of five consumer organisations from across the country.To realise its objectives and activities, the COM collaborates with the government’s Consumer Protection Council, those of the local authorities, the state inspectorates, regulatory bodies, the ombudsman’s office, the Institute for Accreditation, the Institute for Standardisation and other institutions with involvement in consumer protection.COM has both a central office and consumer advice bureau for dispensing advice and information for consumers, organising campaigns, educational and other events to raise consumer awareness.
- The adoption of the consumer protection law in 2000
- Participation in the work of public authorities such as the government’s Consumers’ Protection Council, Accreditation Institute, the Court of Honour within the Tourist Activity Chamber, Waste Management Committee, Bio-safety Committee, Agro-council, as well as other committees and bodies where issues on consumers’ protection are discussed.
