BEUC panel at EU Sustainable Energy Week: ‘How to engage more consumers in the energy transition’

21 June 2023
16:30-18:00 (Brussels time)
Online and in-person, Brussels

The unprecedented rise in energy prices recently has encouraged more consumers to look to renewable technologies (like solar panels) to help reduce their bills.

However, consumers have obstacles to doing this. For instance, many people are facing the classic landlord-tenant dilemma (i.e., who should pay?) or do not have access to their own roof to install solar panels (i.e., those living in apartment buildings).

This session, part of the annual EU Sustainable Energy Week, organised by BEUC in coordination with SolarPower Europe and Housing Europe, will look at the different solutions available to allow all consumers to benefit from renewables and lower energy bills.

The speakers are:

- Laura Naudžiūnaitė, Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Lithuania (keynote speech)
- Monique Goyens, Director General, BEUC
- Walburga Hemetsberger, CEO, SolarPower Europe
- Louise White, Coordinator of the ELENA facility, European Investment Bank
- Josh Roberts, Policy Expert, European Federation of Energy Cooperatives, REScoop.eu
- Sven Van Elst, Managing Director, ASTER cv

Moderator: Jan Rosenow, Principal and European Programme Director, RAP
