Heat pumps: the key to unlocking more comfortable and affordable homes?
Heat pumps: the key to unlocking more comfortable and affordable homes?
Heat pumps can play an integral role in helping to deliver more affordable and comfortable housing for consumers. As well as delivering energy savings, heat pumps can also provide comfort in both winter and summer months.
However, the road to heat pump nirvana is riddled with obstacles, from obtaining trusted information, to finding the right installer, or facing high up-front investment costs. That’s where the CLEAR-HP project comes in.
CLEAR-HP aims to make it easier for consumers to make the switch to a heat pump by guiding people through every step of the purchasing process and addressing financial and regulatory hurdles. The project has guided more than 23,000 consumers in seven European countries toward adopting clean and affordable heating and cooling thanks to collective purchase campaigns.
Now, as the project draws to a close, it is an ideal moment to take stock of what it achieved and to provide policymakers with some key takeaways from consumers’ experience of the heat pump journey.
