Mis-selling practices in the financial services area lead to billions of euros in consumer detriment every year across the EU. Mis-selling is often driven by financial advisers chasing sales commissions. In addition, many of the so-called financial advisers are not sufficiently skilled to deliver quality advice, meaning that, too often, consumers are recommended financial services that do not meet their personal needs. BEUC is pushing to improve the quality of financial advice and guidance that consumers receive, and to cut the rate of mis-selling in financial services.
