Benedicte Federspiel, former Executive Director of BEUC’s Danish member Forbrugerrådet Tænk and a tireless advocate for consumer rights, passed away last week at the age of 83. With an accomplished career spanning over forty years, Benedicte played a pivotal role in shaping consumer policy in Denmark, across Europe, and internationally.

Benedicte dedicated her life to advancing consumer protection. She has inspired generations of consumer advocates, who owe her greatly for her wise support and mentoring. Besides heading Forbrugerrådet Tænk for 17 years, she held key positions on the European and international stage, including as Vice-President of BEUC and President of ANEC. She was also a member of the European Consumer Consultative Group of the European Commission and the European Board of the Transatlantic Consumer Dialogue.

Her legacy will endure in the countless improvements she brought to consumer protection and the inspiration she gave to those who continue her work. She will be truly missed by all her colleagues and friends.
