Fish Labelling Passport - BEUC leaflet

About this publication
Consumers have a hard time finding out where and how their fish was sourced. The European Commission's review of the Common Fisheries Policy aims to improve that situation but several of the consumer-friendly labelling provisions have been deleted by the European Parliament's PECH Committee in the report adopted on 20 June 2012.
Recommendations include:
- Mandatory date of catch labelling on fish sold fresh;
- Improved labelling of processed fish (specific name, origin, and production method);
- Minimum criteria for sustainable fish labels.
