Belgian consumers to access heat pumps at a reduced price under CLEAR-HP
The Belgian consumer organisation Testachats/Testankoop has kicked off a collective purchase campaign of air-to-air heat pumps through the CLEAR-HP project.
This comes at a timely moment – not only is the summer about to start and consumers can benefit from the cooling comfort of air-to-air heat pumps, but the federal government has also announced a reduction in VAT on heat pumps from 21% to 6% for the next five years.
In Belgium, air-to-air heat pumps offer a viable alternative for consumers looking to replace electric heating or gradually reduce their reliance on fossil fuel-based heating systems. An air-to-air heat pump used alongside a central heating system, can help lower energy bills and improve a home’s energy efficiency. However, given the condition of most of Belgium’s building stock, improved insultation and lower electricity prices are essential to fully phase out fossil fuel-based heating.
The campaign offers Belgian consumers the opportunity to participate in this collective purchase and benefit from well-tested heat pumps devices at a reduced price. They can now sign up to the campaign here. The registration is free of charge. Registered participants can also participate in workshops to get more information on the installer visit and the installation, financial options and they also have the chance to get first-hand experience from a heat pump owner who recently installed one.
Not based in Belgium? Check out ongoing CLEAR-HP campaigns in Italy, Portugal, Spain, Slovakia and Slovenia. The CLEAR-HP project aims to promote consumer awareness and empower them to lead the clean energy transition, improving the energy performance and comfort of their homes, and reducing their energy bills. The project will continue with the launch of a collective purchase campaign for heat pumps in Bulgaria.
