The EU and US have an important mutual trading relationship. Together with our US counterparts from the Trans Atlantic Consumer Dialogue (TACD) we have defended the consumer interest in this trading relationship for years.
Our advocacy, has, for example, focused on the Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership (TTIP) negotiations. This proposed free trade agreement intended to go beyond mere import tariff reductions, and could have changed the level of consumer protection on personal data, chemicals and food safety.
With TTIP negotiations on hiatus, our work has moved to following any other discussions taking place between trade negotiators from both sides of the pond.
