Aiming to become carbon-neutral by 2050, today the EU Commission has proposed a 90% cut in the EU’s greenhouse gas emissions by 2040, compared to 1990 levels. To reach such a target, BEUC, the European Consumer Organisation, calls on decision makers to make the roll out of the ambitious climate legislations already adopted their number one priority.

Today, the European institutions have agreed to abolish the charges telecom operators can add when consumers call somebody based in another EU/EEA country, but only by 2029. This should mean that international intra-EU calls cost no more than the price of a domestic call.

Today, the EU reached an agreement to ensure broader protection for consumers if harmed by defective products. Consumers will finally be able to claim compensation with less difficulty. This update to the almost 40-year-old Product Liability Directive was urgently needed to adapt to the digital world around us.
