Consumer policy
About
EU consumer policy has been a steadily growing area. The promotion of the interests, health and safety of European consumers was written into the 1992 EU Treaty. Consumer protection deals with many areas of life – from competition policy to financial services. So advancing consumer rights also requires a horizontal approach. The most recent embodiment of this was the 2012 Consumer Agenda.
For our 50th Anniversary in 2012, along with our members, we forged our ‘Vision for a 2020 EU Consumer Policy’.
