Introduction

Unfair commercial practices

About

Consumers frequently suffer from unfair commercial practices such as preventing them from switching service providers, not receiving enough information about the nature of a product, or aggressive door-step selling.  As a result, the EU adopted the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive in 2005, but its implementation is far from uniform. We want to ensure better enforcement of this law and help to coordinate enforcement activities at national level and across borders. BEUC also wants to make sure that contract law remedies are introduced in the directive and that consumers enjoy a high level of protection if they use online platforms to purchase products.
