Consumers and trade
About
Beyond our work on bilateral trade negotiations, we also look at ‘trade policy’ in general. Looking at the situation now, we believe that the EU, its Member States as well as trading partners ought to do more to make trade policy work for consumers. This requires three changes:
- Trade agreements ought to focus back on trade
- Regulatory issues must be addressed outside trade agreements
- Both trade negotiations and regulatory dialogues should be further democratised
