“Reduced fat”, “low in sugar”, “good for your heart”... Food manufacturers resort to various health and nutrition claims to communicate about their products’ nutritional composition. Comparing products to make healthy choices can be a real challenge for consumers.

For BEUC, it is crucial that health and nutrition claims are only permitted if they reflect a genuine and meaningful nutritional or health benefit. Claims must be scientifically substantiated and should only appear on those food products which are healthy.
