About

The Consumer Rights Directive sets out rules on contracts between consumers and businesses which apply across the EU, and establishes certain basic consumer rights. These include a ban on pre-ticked boxes, rules on excessive payment fees, information requirements or the right to withdraw from a contract. The directive has a direct and tangible impact on the everyday life of consumers in the EU. Any review of the Consumer Rights Directive should ensure that consumer rights across the EU are improved and modernised, rather than weakened, particularly in light of the digital economy.
